So we know that Google, like always, will be releasing a new Nexus this year. So far we have seen very little information regarding this next generation. Well lets get those rumor mills turning because we now know that LG is working with Google to produce the next Nexus phone as reported by The Korea Times.
LG partnered with Google to create the most recent Nexus, the Nexus 4, last year and it appears that Google was so pleased with their work that they will be trusted with manufacture of the next one! The Nexus 4 is a fantastic device and is set to become even better with the apparent release of an LTE model at I/O. However, there a few issues nearly many had with the device that LG will hopefully correct with the next iteration.
First off, the exterior LG crafted is beautiful. I’m looking at the device right now and it just screams quality. That is, of course, till you flip it over and see the massive crack down the back. Please LG you know that fantastic Gorilla Glass stuff? Don’t pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s right there on the front of the phone. Put that on the back! If for some reason the manufacturing process doesn’t work correctly, then go with some nice, non-glossy, polycarbonate. I’m sure you will put in a 1080p display, although I’m in the minority, I would rather keep the 720p display and get a nice bump in the battery department.
As far as CPU specs go, you can probably stick with the 2gb of ram. More and more each day it looks like 4.3 will be the next edition of Android. As the hardware requirements don’t usually bump up too much outside of full number updates, the RAM is probably a decent area to save a little money. The CPU can always use a bump to deal with some of the more graphic intensive apps we’ll be seeing later this year, but again LG made an excellent selection of CPU.
As you have probably noticed I’m not asking LG to bring all that much new to the table. Why? Well its quite simple, the number one reason I am excited LG will be returning is their price point. I completely expect the nexus 5 (or whatever they call it) to be around $300 once again. LG realizes that we don’t need a full metal uni-body chasis or even an Octocore CPU. Just a good, solid device at a price that makes it easy to purchase unlocked.
Are you all excited for the Next Nexus now that you know LG will be producing it? Or are you more excited for the Motorola X phone, or X Fon, or whatever the heck they call it. Let us know in the comments below
Comment from Smartphonebay.net:
It is nice for us to know LG is ready to product next Nexus. LG always give a very good outlook of the smartphone including Nexus 4. We wish the new nexus still has a fine crafted appearance together with best fit spec for highly demanding users.
